 Feline Stylist Assistant:  15 hours

 This course will cover common feline breeds, behavior and handling techniques for assisting feline stylists to help with keeping felines calm and safe during the grooming process, as well as knowledge on equipment understanding and products that can be used on felines. 

 

 Feline Stylist: 30 hours

 This course will cover the common feline breeds,  bathing, brush and blow dry, cuts and styling, what types of shampoos and equipment are cat safe, behavior, and how to make the shop a safe, calming environment for the animals.

 

 

Canine Skin & Coat Therapist: 90 hours           

This course will cover all breeds in the AKC (American Kennel Club), brushing, bathing, anatomy, blow drying skills, deshedding, behavior signs, first aid, preparing for the bath, sanitary areas, sanitation of shop, pests you will encounter, shampoo and products, equipment and its maintenance.  **4 hours of this course will be dedicated to "Topical Applications & Effects" and 4 hours will  be Grime & Slime Over Time: Best Salon Sanitation Practices:  Salon sanitation at its cleanest.  The only state approved certificate course for business owners of grooming shops, daycares, kennels, pet sitters and retail shops or boutiques for understanding cleaning, disinfecting and sanitation practices.  

 

 Intermediate Canine Stylist: 90 hours

 This course will cover styling tools (scissors and thinners), clippers and clipping, blades and length, snap on combs, breed specific trims and patterns, setting patterns,  faces and feet trims. 

 

 Advanced Canine Stylist: 40 hours

 This course will allow for more advanced blending, styling, breed patterns, hand scissoring, creative or Asian styling and refining one's grooming touch.  

 

Introduction into Pet Industry Practices: 7 hours

 This course will help determine the career of students; shop manager, owner, stylists, dog walker/pet sitter…..etc.

Pet Esthetician: 20 hours

This course will teach the foundation of the science of pet skin, animal handling, sanitation, how to recognize ingredients in product formulations and how to effectively choose the products to use.  This is an in-depth, medically based curriculum that will give you the opportunity to learn the various issues that affect the skins of pets and has a strong focus on developing your portfolio with which you can show your work, teach your clients, and help to form partnerships with veterinarians.  Taught by Michelle Knowles ICMG, MPAI .   

 

Master Pet Aesthetician: 10 hours

 Taught by Michelle Knowles ICMG, MPAI , the first Master Pet Aesthetician in the world.

Business & Facility Management:  30 hours 

This course is designed for students that are preparing to open their own shop.  They will have hands on experience with not only operations of a grooming shop, but a retail boutique with a dog bakery and dog wash.

 

 Pet Sitter & Dog Walker: 4 hours             

This course is designed for high school and college aged students to give them a boost into a pet care career while they are away at college and breaks.

 Introduction to First Aid: 2 hours             

This course will cover the basics of pet and human first aid such as necessary supplies for each medical kit, normal body temperatures, finding the pulse, cleaning out bites or scratches wounds, knowing when to contact veterinary or medical help, being prepared for a medical emergency.

Pet First Aid & CPR: 6 hours 

This course will cover restraint, primary assessment and getting the pet's vitals, rescue breathing, canine and feline CPR, choking management, bleeding and shock management, as well as the basis for dealing with insect bites and stings, snakebite, heat and cold injuries, and seizure. Emphasis will be placed on the prevention of illness and injury, the importance of early veterinary care. Students will also learn how to equip a first aid kit for pets.  Taught by certified PetTech Instructor April Begosh, owner of  Healthy Pets NH.  

 

Basics of Animal Nutrition: 3 hours

This course will cover mostly canine nutrition; reading and understanding a label on pet food, raw diets, kibble, home cooking, digestive tracts and how diet affects coat and skin health.

Offered in class or online. 

 

Advanced Animal Nutrition: 20 hours

This course will cover preparing and making cooked diets, bakery treats for canines and felines.  This will be covered by learning the proteins, balancing the diets, chemistry, storage, digestion, bone, minerals, vitamins and fats.  Understanding natural remedies or holistic approaches for feeding as well as a stronger knowledge base on feeding kibble and raw diets. Case studies will be expected for completion of course.  

An Informed Professional: 4 hours

This course is designed for first year groomers to understand the health risks and how to avoid them.  Students will learn about the history of the grooming industry, sanitizing and disinfecting the workplace of harmful diseases, ergonomics of the body,staying healthy mentally and physically.
